    BY DESIGN

    01 / THE IDEA

The moment will not wait for a filter thread.

Light shifts. Reflections move. Weather arrives. M2 replaces the slowest part of using a circular filter with a confident magnetic connection, so your attention stays on the frame.

No tools. No repeated threading. No digging for the right cap.

    02 / THE WORKFLOW

    Thread once.
    Then stay magnetic.

    1. 01
      Mount the base

Match 67mm, 77mm or 82mm to your lens thread and install the M2 base.

    2. 02
      Snap on the filter

The magnetic connection aligns the filter quickly and holds it securely.

    3. 03
      Swap with the scene

Move from UV to CPL or the ND strength included in your kit without unscrewing the base.

    03 / CHOOSE THE JOB

    Three different jobs.

Select ND, CPL or UV to see the actual job each included filter performs before it goes on your lens.

    CONTROL LIGHT

Hold the shutter. Keep the look.

Reduce incoming light to preserve a cinematic shutter speed, open the aperture in daylight or turn moving water and clouds into a deliberate long exposure.

    ACTUAL ND EFFECT

A higher ND number blocks more light. Choose a lighter ND for everyday video and a stronger ND when you need slower shutter speeds or longer exposures.

    07 / CHECK THE FIT

One system size can cover more than one lens.

Match the M2 size directly to your lens thread, or use the correct Freewell Step Up Ring to fit a larger M2 system to a smaller lens. One filter size can then work across several lenses.

    09 / QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Everything to know before M2 goes in your bag.

    01How does the M2 quick-swap system work?

Thread the M2 base ring onto your lens once. From there, M2 filters attach and release magnetically, so you can move between protection, light control and creative effects without repeatedly threading filters onto the lens.

02Which lens thread sizes are available?

M2 is available in 67mm, 77mm and 82mm. Look for the Ø symbol on the front of your lens to find its thread size. You can also use a step-up ring to adapt a smaller lens thread to a larger M2 size.

03What is the difference between the M2 3 Pack and 5 Pack?

The M2 3 Pack includes ND1000, CPL and UV for long exposure, reflection control and everyday lens protection. The M2 5 Pack adds ND8 and ND64, giving you lighter ND options for video and bright-day shooting. Both use the same M2 magnetic quick-swap workflow.

04Can I use one M2 size across different lens sizes?

Yes. Choose one M2 size, then use the correct Freewell Step Up Ring on each smaller-thread lens. For example, a 67mm–82mm step-up ring lets an 82mm M2 system fit a 67mm lens. The ring must match both your lens thread and M2 size.Choose the correct Freewell Step Up Ring

05Will M2 work with my lens hood?

Only on a matching-size setup. For example, an 82mm M2 system on an 82mm lens can retain its compatible lens hood. If you adapt that 82mm M2 system to a 67mm lens with a step-up ring, the original 67mm lens hood will not fit around the larger filter system.

    06Can I stack M2 filters?

Yes. Remember that every additional layer of glass may introduce softness or vignetting. The result depends on the lens, focal length and number of filters, so test your intended stack before an important shoot.

07How wide can I shoot without vignetting?

Freewell has tested a single M2 filter at 16mm on a full-frame camera without an issue. Lens designs vary, and stacking filters can change the result.

    08Are M2 filters compatible with Freewell M1, V2 or K2?

No. M2 is its own magnetic system and is not cross-compatible with M1, V2 or K2. M2 circular filters are compatible with the Freewell Eiger matte box.

    09How should I clean an M2 filter?

Remove loose dust first, then use the supplied clean microfiber cloth. Avoid isopropyl alcohol, which may damage optical coatings.
