Introducing the World's First Neutral Flare Anamorphic Lens for iPhone/Samsung

Introducing the World's First Neutral Flare Anamorphic Lens for iPhone/Samsung

At Freewell, we are proud to introduce the world’s first neutral flare anamorphic lens for smartphones. Anamorphic lenses have been a game-changer for filmmakers, adding that signature widescreen look and iconic lens flares. Traditionally, these flares are blue or golden in color, but with our innovative technology, we’ve developed a neutral flare anamorphic lens that adapts to the color of your light source. Whether you’re shooting in warm sunlight, cool daylight, or neutral lighting, our lens will match the color of the flare to your environment.

Why Neutral Flare?

The main benefit of the neutral anamorphic flare is the control it offers. You now have the ability to match the flare color to the temperature of your light source. For example:

  • A warm light source will produce a warm flare

  • A cool light source (like 5600K) will result in a cooler flare

  • A neutral light source will produce a neutral, silver-colored flare

This level of control is a game changer for filmmakers, as you can now match your flares with the actual color of the light in your scene. It's much more natural to see the real colors of the light sources like the sun, car headlights, or traffic lights, and it enhances the overall realism of your shot.

Attaching the Lens

To use the lens, you’ll need a 17mm Freewell cage or case. Simply screw the lens onto your smartphone, ensuring a tight connection. A key feature is the bubble level located on the lens, which allows you to level up the lens before shooting. Remember, anamorphic lenses are designed for horizontal shooting, not vertical, so make sure you level it properly using the built-in spirit level in your app, such as Blackmagic Camera.

Why We’re Proud

We’re incredibly proud of the results this lens produces, especially when paired with the iPhone and Apple Log. The image is beautifully cinematic, and the neutral flare provides more control over the look of your shot. For us, it’s all about having control over the flares and creating the most natural and realistic effects.

At Freewell, we’re always pushing the boundaries of mobile filmmaking, and the world’s first neutral flare anamorphic lens is proof of that innovation. We invite you to experience the difference for yourself and take your filmmaking to the next level.
